KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia — Himel returned to MARVEX 2026 to show how variable speed drives work within a wider electrical system. Jointly organised by the Malaysian Air-Conditioning & Refrigeration Association (MACRA) and C.I.S, the fifth exhibition took place alongside ENGINEER at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 22 to 25 September. Himel discussed its latest drives with Malaysian HVAC&R designers, installers and operators.
Founded in Spain in 1958, Himel supplies power distribution, motor control and protection, industrial components and home electrical products in more than 60 countries. Himel is committed to expanding access to safe electricity through affordable, reliable products.
Making its second appearance at MARVEX, Himel led with the new X Series variable speed drive (VSD). Smart relay controllers, Energy Management & Building Automation (EBA), industrial control components, low-voltage power distribution and final distribution products completed the display.
The two X Series families reflect different operating demands. The HAVXP Series is designed for HVAC systems, fans and pumps, with a range of 0.75–800 kW. The HAVXH Series serves general industrial machinery from 0.4–710 kW. Both can use three-phase or single phase 380–480 V or 200-240V AC input. A building engineer assessing an air-handling fan or water pump will ask different questions from a production engineer assessing a machine; in either case, the final choice depends on the motor, load and duty cycle.

For systems that must respond as demand changes, the HAVXP Series offers built-in PID control, multi-pump operation and master-slave functions. In a building water system, pressure feedback can prompt a pump to change speed as consumption rises or falls. In PFC/SPFC mode, one drive can control up to four pumps; in Intelligent Pump Control (IPC) mode, the system can use up to eight drives and pumps. Coated circuit boards, dust shielding and a redesigned cooling path are intended to help the X Series manage the heat and contaminants encountered in demanding installations.
Himel has also considered the work that follows product selection. X Studio software lets technicians prepare parameters offline, compare settings across drives, monitor current, voltage and frequency, and consult a fault-code library when investigating an issue. Built-in RS485/Modbus RTU and optional communication cards, including Modbus TCP, Profinet, Bacnet and EtherCAT options, give integrators ways to connect the drives to building or plant controls. The selected card and protocol must match the project design.
Himel has delivered VSD projects across Malaysian water and industrial applications. One representative installation is a raw-water treatment pump system with five X Series drives. The customer sought an available, cost-conscious solution configured to its preferred pump operating sequence.
For the customer, the result was a control setup that ran the pumps as intended. The five drives were configured around the facility’s preferred operating sequence, so the pump system could fit its raw-water treatment process. For operators, this agreed control logic provides a practical reference for day-to-day use and any later adjustment of drive settings. Himel's team worked with the facility through factory testing, panel integration and site commissioning to align the drive settings with that operating brief. Technical backup remained available through handover.

“Malaysia remains a strategic market for Himel. Our presence at MARVEX reflects our long-term commitment to working alongside channel partners, strengthening market capabilities, and delivering solutions that help customers improve performance, reliability, and operational efficiency. Together, we're creating sustainable growth opportunities for the future,” said Ang Koon San, Vice President, International Sales at Himel.
After MARVEX, Himel will build on these discussions with Malaysian distributors, partners and customers through application guidance and technical support. It will help local teams select and integrate drives for commercial and industrial projects, with a continued focus on reliable, accessible and affordable electrical solutions.
