Manufacturing Journal spoke to Bertrand Ooms, Business Development Manager for conTeyor – international returnable and sustainable packaging specialist - about their expansion into different sectors outside the automotive sector.

  • What is conTeyor’s core business today?

We develop and supply optimal and sustainable solutions for the material handling of our customer’s products. We have been producing patented sustainable solutions in textiles, plastic and steel for more than 25 years.

  • Which sectors is conTeyor currently already serving?

Our international customer base consists of a vast range of OEMs, and Tier 1 & Tier 2 companies in various sectors. We have been focusing on the automotive sector for many years, but for the last few years we have been successfully developing our business in other sectors, such as the aerospace, electronics and white goods industry.

As we believe to bring added value to any industry having a closed loop supply chain, we recently broadened our focus to machinery, electronical manufacturing and medical (equipment) industry.

  • Which added value can conTeyor offer to these industries?

We noticed that our unique combination of plastics or steel with textiles, already implemented in the highly developed automotive supply chain, can easily be applied in other markets.

Furthermore we notice that many companies are searching for cost-efficient, sustainable packaging but they are simply not (yet) familiar with the solutions we can offer them.

  • What makes conTeyor unique?

Going that extra mile for unique solutions. A good product is not a solution yet. With a multidisciplinary approach, we develop and combine an outer handling unit with the most suitable internal dividers to come to a solution that matches your needs. We easily produce various prototypes to be tested and adjusted, to come to that perfect project.

  • Which message do you have for our readers?

You are looking for excellent part protection, maximum packing density and easy handling. Not only at the lowest possible cost, but also at the highest environmental standards. For that you need a partner who pro-actively participates in the design process and this is where conTeyor's historic experience can support you.
