RENAULT-FLINS PRODUCES 17 MILLIONTH VEHICLE

  • The Pierre Lefaucheux plant at Flins-Aubergenville (Yvelines, Ile-de-France) produced its 17 millionth vehicle on July 13, 2010 at 11:30AM.
  • The car produced was a Platinum Grey five-door New Renault Clio Dynamique 1.2 16V 75 eco² for the Italian market.

Flins, founded in 1952, is Renault’s oldest French bodywork-assembly plant. The site has produced 18 models, from the Juva 4 to New Renault Clio, including some of the brand’s most emblematic models such as 4CV, the Renault 4, Renault 16, Renault 5 and first-generation Twingo.

Today, the 3 422 salaries working at Flins manufacture 730 New Clios a day. Starting in 2012 the site will produce batteries for electric vehicles and the production vehicle based on ZOE Z.E. Concept. Flins will also build Clio IV from 2013.

Olivier Rémoleux, plant director, said: “I would like to congratulate the entire workforce at Flins for the know-how it has shown over the years in producing 17 million vehicles. This expertise will be crucial to success in our new projects.”

From 2012, Flins will be at the heart of Renault’s sustainable mobility for all strategy. This site will be the only one to produce the urban electric vehicle derived from ZOE Z.E. Concept. It will also be France’s first lithium-ion battery production site.

Renault has 14 production sites in France out of a total 38 worldwide. In 2009 the 30,000 employees working at these plants produced 545,000 vehicles.
